On June 10  Dr. James K. McReynolds will talk about his grandfather, Fleet Admiral Ernest King who was Commander in Chief (US Fleet and Chief of Naval Operations) during World War II.  McReynolds is Professor Emerius South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

As Wikipedia points out, King’s “view of press relations for the US Navy in World War II is well documented. When asked to state a public relations policy for the Navy, King replied ‘Don't tell them anything. When it's over, tell them who won.’”  Considering the dominance of media these days, as well as a public that’s easily swayed, there’s something unique and refreshing and gutsy in such a statement.  moreClausewitz, Solomon Islands, biography

On October 14 James Dugan (USAF ret) will talk about his unusual years with the nuclear arsenal at the Nevada Test site and the doomsday scenarios he was almost involved with--and other facets of Cold War life.
