South Dakota Veterans Forum

On August 12, Eleanore Moe of Rapid City will talk about being a military wife in postwar Germany.  Her husband George Moe, a West Point graduate and a tank commander in Patton's Third Army, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge.

-----During the Korean War he fought in the bloody Chosin Reservoir.  As he recalled, "The steep, rugged Taeback Mountains of the Chosin Reservoir in December were an area where at one time Hell was located, but the Devil got disgusted and moved out!"

-----Present at the Nuremberg Trials, Eleanore later met Eleanor Roosevelt. He later become a professor at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.  more
